Good news:
During the past 9 months, my father had been in Kabul in a feeble attempt to reclaim a house that belonged to ours with another tenant residing in it. The tenant is from the Panjshir (same province as most of the Northern Alliance Commanders so the word 'duh' comes to mind) and had many deep connections with Qazi Wali, Communist collaborater during the Russo-Afghan war.
When my father had gone during the time of the Taliban, the former regime officials had promised to help him vacate the people inside the house but my father had left prior to any action taking place and the scenario remained stagnant.
He had come back only in having to go to the courts and settling it there with the judge where he actually won the case. That seemed to be of little effect with the security personnel having no power to force someone out and the army refusing to do anything but sit.
So my father with the aid of Mullah abdurrasool Sayyaf have been able to reclaim the house and as a token of amnesty, have found the man and his family another place to stay which my father has readily agreed to help pay rent.
This may have been less arduous with American assistance but they probably would have bombed the apartment anyways.
