INTRODUCTION

Fiqh Made Easy - Rules of Fiqh is a partial translation of the book, al-Faraa'id ul-Baheeyah by Shaykh Abu Bakr al-Ahdal, which is itself a summarization of Imam Jalal ud-Deen as-Suyuti's classic book of rules of jurisprudence for the Shaafi'i madhhab al-Ashbaahu waNathaa'ir.

The rules contained in the present volume were first taught to the author by Shaykh Abdullah al-Kadi, a reknowned scholar. He then sat and read the text of al-Faraa'id ul-Baheeyah with Shaykh AbduliLLah al-Arfaj, a shaykh in the madhhab of Imam ash-Shaafi'I(RA) from Hofuf, Saudi Arabia. It was from Shaykh AbduliLLah that the author received written authorization to teach these rules (ijaza).

The rules of fiqh (qawaa'id ul-fiqh) contained in this volume were translated from the original Arabic text by the author and Shaykh AbduliLLah. This volume will be of great assistance to the English speaking Muslim, as it will give them a basic understanding of the principles of Islamic Law.

Many of the rules contained herein can be applied on a daily basis to many aspects of worship, dealings with other individuals, and life in general. Having solid understanding of these rules will, insha'Allah, increase the quality of one's Islam.
